John came to do a 1 day workshop on Art as Ritual in Frome, the day went very quickly, but i was instantly captivated into a world of creativity, magic and endless possibilities, we learnt about creating a sigil, using ritual to break down creative blockages we may have, immersive performance and using this as a form of ritual, i really want to learn more from John and foolish people.
He gave us a four week ritual to do, creating a story in which we are the main character, and offered his support as we go through the process. I am on day 5 or my 4 week ritual, and can already feel something shifting on a deeper level.
Me and Joana were given the opportunity to run another workshop at Edventure: Frome with the new group who are focusing on an immersive theatre project. We had wanted to come in in their first week, to run our workshop on power dynamics, and then again a month later, but the timings didn't work out, so we ended up coming in after the group had been together for 1 month, the original workshop wouldn't have worked so well for a group that was already established, so we had to edit it, adding and removing the majority of the exercises, but keeping the timeline, and mapping engagement levels, for them to use reflectively. It was all very last minute, but went surprisingly well considering!
Above is some feedback from the group.
Meeting the wild was a beautiful 2 week journey, combining various meditation techniques (Metta, breath, work movement), nature connection (spiritually and practically), ceremony and ritual. Creating a place for self awareness to grow dissolving the duality of the inner and outer worlds, seeing them as one world.
We spent 5 days in preparation, then walked for a day further into the mountains, where there are no people and little human interaction with the wild, we spend a further 3 days in preparation then left our tribe to enter our wider community or rocks, animals, birds, trees, plants, land for our 3 day and night solo. After our solo time, we met again as a tribe, and spent some time telling our stories, reflecting and reconnecting with our human community.
What a beautiful experience, i constantly felt honored and humbled.
This is a map of my 3 day solo and how it was - its very symbolic, and probably makes no sense to anyone but me. This was one of my favourite exercises we did, using our non dominant hand.
